Neuromuscular ReEducation is a technique used by therapists to improve movement by optimizing nerve and muscle activation to perform a specific movement. Movements are produced by stimulation of a muscle after getting motor signals from the nerve.
As we practice or perform one movement for repeatedly, muscles and nerves learn to act upon a particular stimulus to create a specific movement, that is understood in a general term as a “muscle memory”.
Any injury to the nerve or a muscle as well as surrounding tissue results in disruption of the neuromuscular activation. In therapy, different techniques are used to reeducate and enhance nerve and muscle activation to perform and control a specific movement. The same techniques are also utilized to improve postural control, improve balance in patients after injury.
At Outpatient Mobile Solutions ®, we utilize innovative techniques to challenge neuromuscular pathways to optimize movement patterns.
